Material

ALab.Studio believes in the beauty of sustainability. Materials are carefully selected to protect the environment and production methods are designed to minimize resources and maximize product life. We work mainly with natural materials for our products and commissions.

When it comes to experimenting with new techniques or creating new artworks, also other and non-organic material can be involved.

VIRGIN WOOL (New Zealand Wool)

Pure new wool, especially that from New Zealand, is one of the highest quality types of wool used in carpet manufacturing. This wool comes from the first shearing of a sheep, which means that it is particularly soft and robust. New Zealand wool is characterized by its exceptional purity and uniform fibre length, which makes it ideal for luxurious carpets.

It offers a natural elasticity that ensures the rug retains its shape and remains resilient even under heavy use. In addition, virgin wool is naturally fire resistant and has excellent insulating properties that can both retain heat and dampen sound.
